New card_1 Design Systems

Smart infra-modeling technology is the foundation of the card_1 design system. This proprietary technology combines an integrated knowledge repository with intelligent decision-making logic. Our aim is to transform card_1 from a system for experts into an expert system. To achieve this, smart infra-modeling technology works with a specialised data model. Common building and planning regulations are integrated into the system, enabling the creation of a parameterised, rule-based, high-quality 3D project model with just a few clicks – all completely automated.

With smart infra-modeling technology, it takes only seconds to generate a design proposal, which you can then refine and further develop step by step. The technology thus offers you the perfect blend of automation and flexibility for your work, all while taking the BIM-compliant planning approach into account.

That this technology is groundbreaking has already been independently confirmed: in both 2023 and 2025, we received the BSFZ certificate (Research Allowance Certificate) from the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), which recognises smart infra-modeling technology as a pioneering innovation.

New Road Design

The New Road Design module in card_1 is an advanced method to create a 3D model of the road. It replaces the previous design method using three-view projection. Starting with the alignment and vertical alignment, the parameters and geometries of the road structure are automatically derived from the rule sets included, resulting in a 3D representation of the road. All this is achieved without the need for cross-sections. Transitions between individual sections are automatically generated thanks to intelligent algorithms. The New Road Design module thus directly creates BIM-compatible 3D objects with attributes, enabling immediate output via a BIM interface.

New Rail Design

The New Railway Design module offers improved design and evaluation processes for railway route design. The first development phase includes defining and generating track geometries. The definitions and results are clearly presented as technical objects and can therefore be edited at any time. In addition to classic track geometry design, parametric definitions of the track geometry are also possible. Buffer stops can also be generated conveniently with just a few clicks. The system considers technical criteria when placing the buffer stop types and also checks their plausibility. In further development phases, modeling the track bed will be possible, enabling the automated generation of 3D track components in accordance with applicable regulations and guidelines.

New Modeling of Existing Conditions

Smart infrastructure modeling technology is not only the foundation for the new card_1 design systems for roads and railways, it is also the core of the new Modeling Existing Conditions module, which considers various use cases and source data. This results in numerous advantages, such as the use of catalogue information, automatic notification-based project data updates, and deep integration into the specialist card_1 data model. Specialist as-built models can also be used for deconstruction planning. 

As a first step, the new Modeling Existing Conditions module offers smart functions to model media-specific utility networks. Improved batch generation of conduits and the creation of further sub-models (trades) are already in preparation.
