IB&T GmbH is to present its new software for railway track planning at the InnoTrans 2012: train speed profiles for all trains and stretches of track according to the current DBAG-Guideline 800.0110.

Train speed profiles are required to design public metropolitan and suburban commuter railway systems as they indicate how fast a train is likely to reach a particular destination. Cants and ramps are measured according to the actual speed travelled. The speed-distance-diagram guarantees that especially before and after the stops, the cants are not too big and the cant gradients not too long. This would otherwise result in structural problem areas which would require servicing more frequently than other parts of the track. Line routeing using train speed profiles can therefore really save money.

In order to calculate the train speed profiles the software must know, for instance, which trains are to traverse the line and how they accelerate. To make things easier IB&T GmbH has made the acceleration data for a selection of train types available e.g.: Transrapid TR09, ICE3, construction series 485/885 (S-Bahn Berlin) as well as the trams Flexity Outlook (Marseille) und CombinoPlus (Almada). Acceleration data for other train types can be easily compiled.

The Vehicle Dynamics module benefits most from this new module. Once identified using train speed profiles, the module checks radii, cants and cant gradients for compliance against limiting values. This helps planners achieve best results quickly and confidently. 

In Germany most Federal German Railway lines and equivalent secondary routes are planned using CARD/1. With its seamless data management and uniform operation, CARD/1 facilitates comprehensive project work, from geodetic network adjustment, to line routeing right up to the finished plans.
